Hair colour at the studio is chosen against your skin at the chair, in daylight where possible, rather than picked from a chart in advance. Global colour, root touch-ups, grey coverage and gloss or toner are all discussed in the same way: what you want the result to look like, and what your hair can take today.
Colour history matters more than most people expect. Previous colour, henna, smoothing or bleach all change how a new shade develops, so the consultation covers what has been done before. Correction work is assessed first and quoted in writing before it starts. Time and price are confirmed before anything is mixed.

The shade you have in mind, your skin, your hair history and how much upkeep you want.
- 02Strand or patch test where needed
For first-time colour, sensitive scalps or anything with a complicated history.
- 03Application
Roots, lengths or both, depending on what was agreed.
- 04Processing and rinse
Checked at the chair rather than left to a timer alone.
- 05Finish
A wash, conditioning and a blow-dry so you see the real result.
Tell the studio first
- Everything on your hair in the last year: colour, henna, smoothing, bleach.
- Any scalp sensitivity or past reaction to hair colour.
- A photo of the result you like, in natural light if possible.
Aftercare, usually
- Wait before the first wash as the studio advises, then use colour-safe shampoo.
- Cooler water and less heat styling keep the tone longer.
- Protect coloured hair from strong sun and chlorinated water.
- Follow the aftercare the studio gives you for the products used.
