Party makeup is a complete look for an evening or a function: skin prepared, a base that suits your skin type, eyes, cheeks and lips, and setting chosen for how long you will wear it. Hairstyling and draping can be added so you leave fully ready.
The planning starts in the makeup chair with your outfit, jewellery and any reference photos. The studio looks at your skin on the day, asks about the event and the lighting, and suggests a look built around your features and the clothes.
You know the price and the time to allow before agreeing, and whether hair or draping is included. For several people getting ready together, ask for a written quote that lists each look.

- 01Brief
Outfit, jewellery, event and timing are discussed, with your references in front of you both.
- 02Skin prep
Skin is cleansed and moisturised, with a primer suited to your skin type.
- 03Base
Foundation and concealer are matched in good light and blended to look like skin.
- 04Eyes and definition
Eyes, brows and contour are built to the agreed intensity.
- 05Lips and setting
Lip colour is chosen against the outfit, and the look is set for the evening.
- 06Hair and draping
If booked, hair is styled and the outfit draped, in the order that keeps everything neat.
Tell the studio first
- Skin sensitivities, allergies or reactions to makeup or lash glue.
- Recent facials, peels or other skin treatments.
- The time you need to leave, and whether you are travelling far afterwards.
- Photos of the outfit and any looks you like.
Aftercare, usually
- Blot rather than wipe if your skin gets shiny during the evening.
- Remove makeup fully before sleep with a gentle cleanser.
- Take strip lashes off carefully, starting from the outer corner.
- Follow the aftercare the studio gives you for the products used on your skin.
